Give yourself the gift of attention with these easy at-home spa treatments.
Do you have some olive oil and lemon juice? Coconut oil and sugar? Dry skin is also a problem a lot of people deal with. Luckily, there are every day and inexpensive ingredients in your home to combat these maladies.

A luxurious hot oil treatment is right at your fingertips if you have some olive oil and lemon juice. The acidity of the lemon helps balance the PH of your scalp while the olive oil hydrates. Simply heat 1/3 cup olive oil and 2 teaspoons lemon juice in the microwave for 20 seconds in a microwave-safe bowl. Put a towel around your neck to catch any loose droplets of oil. Use your fingers to massage the oil mixture liberally into the scalp. Leave on the scalp for 10 minutes. Shampoo and condition as usual.
Hand/Lip Sugar Smoother Scrub
Mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup coconut or olive oil. Scrub hands with oil and sugar and rinse off with warm water. Pat dry. The same can be used on your dry lips, just don’t scrub as hard on delicate lips. Follow up with some Vaseline.
Age Spots
Age spots show up on parts of the skin that see the most sun. Our faces and arms are most likely to have these brown age spots. Of course, sunscreen is the best prevention, but if you’ve spent a life outdoors, you are apt to have a few. Apple cider vinegar’s natural alpha-hydroxy acids can lighten age spots. Lemon is also a natural skin lightener. Dab apple cider or lemon juice on any spots 30 minutes before you jump in the shower daily. You can also dab lemon juice on your skin before bedtime to get a longer soak.
Tired Eyes

Be it looking at the computer for hours, not enough sleep, or too much stress, your eyes often tell the story with dark bags or fine lines. One of the easiest and cheapest remedies for tired eyes is cold milk. Take two cotton pads and dip them in cold milk. Lie on your back with eyes closed and pads on eyes for 10 minutes.
Hydrating Face Mask
Wash your face before starting. Blend until creamy in a blender—1 ripe avocado, 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp lemon, and 2 tablespoons plain yogurt. Spread on face and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Pat dry. Follow with the daily facial cream regimen.
Cracked Heels/Dry Feet
Soak your feet in warm water with 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon salt for 10 minutes. Pat dry. Cover feet liberally with Vaseline and put on a pair of socks. When you take them off, your feet will have been reborn!
Soften Cuticles

It’s not just the polish we love when we get a manicure, it’s how the technician takes care of hangnail skin and overgrown cuticles. Coconut oil is a natural emollient. A couple drops of warm coconut oil rubbed into your cuticles will magically soften them along with your fingers. Coconut oil's natural antibacterial properties won’t burn any micro-cuts around your nails you can’t see. You can then push cuticles down with a metal cuticle device or use your thumbnail.
