Pro Football Focus released their rankings of the NFL’s best edge rushers on Tuesday, placing Pittsburgh Steelers’ T.J. Watt as the second-best in all of football.
“Going purely off of pass-rushing production, it’s difficult to top what Watt has been able to do over the past two seasons in Pittsburgh,” PFF’s Ben Linsey writes. “He leads all edge defenders in sacks (29.5) and quarterback hits (46) since 2019, falling just short of Shaquil Barrett in total pressures.”
Watt’s insane production over the last two seasons resulted in PFF grades of 91.3 and 91.6 and solidified him as one of the elite defensive players in all of football.
While he has narrowly missed out on that elusive Defensive Player of the Year honor, Watt has earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections and been named First-Team All-Pro each of the last two seasons.
Watt recorded 53 total tackles and paced the league with both 15 sacks and 23 tackles-for-loss. He led the NFL with eight forced fumbles in 2019.
The only pass rusher ranked ahead of Watt is the Chicago Bears’ Khalil Mack. Former Steeler and newly signed Tennessee Titan Bud Dupree clocked in at No. 27 on the list.
