Irish novelist John Boyne has penned 18 books since 2000 (as well as a collection of short stories) but is perhaps most famous for his 2006 work The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, the harrowing tale of a doomed friendship between a Jewish boy in a World War II concentration camp and the young son of the Nazi officer in charge. In 2008, the book was turned into an acclaimed Hollywood movie starring Asa Butterfield and David Thewlis.

Boyne's latest book, the fantasy novel A Traveler at the Gates of Wisdom, launched this year, and fans have discovered an interesting passage describing the colouring of clothing. You might recognise some of the ingredients from a certain Switch / Wii U title:

You may assume that given the book's fantasy setting, Boyne was simply referencing the dyeing process in one of his favourite video games, but he's honest enough to admit that wasn't the case:

So there you have it; Zelda: Breath of the Wild is so influential it's even making its way into works of acclaimed fiction.
