The Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints go head-to-head Sunday night.
The Packers have looked good so far, knocking off the division rival Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. They now face a Saints team that will be hungry for a win after falling to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football, giving them a 1-1 start to the season
Tonight’s game will have some interesting possibilities as value plays due to the likely absence of two stud wide receivers, Davante Adams and Michael Thomas. The question is, who are those players who will fill the vacuum at value DFS pricing? Let’s take a look at some of the cheaper options that could help you pay up for fantasy royalty like Aaron Rodgers and Alvin Kamara in DraftKings Showdown?
Lazard has brought in 7-of-9 targets for 109 yards and a touchdown through two games and has one rushing attempt for 19 more yards. Lazard’s skill set is closer to Davante Adams than it is to Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s. He has a wider variety of routes and better hands, but he’s not going to burn defenses deep that often. That sets him up well with Adams out this week, as he should see a good number of targets and have a better floor than MVS in DraftKing’s PPR scoring while being a little cheaper.
Harris saw five targets against the Raiders last week compared to just three for Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders was in for a much bigger percentage of snaps though. Coach Sean Payton wants to get Sanders more work moving forward, but that’s no guarantee of a good fantasy game Sunday night. Both of these receivers have value though, as Harris was obviously getting in spots Brees wanted to target him at a cheap price, while Sanders is going to have starter’s snaps and will be in line for more work this week.
With Adams out, we should see a little more work headed in the tight ends direction. That won’t be hard to do, as four Packers tight ends have seen eight targets through two games. The only glimmer of hope resides in Tonyan, who has led the group with 62% and 60% of snaps and saw three targets last week, with one resulting in a touchdown. Jace Sternberger has the draft capital to be involved more, but he’s been bad so far and I could see him hitting the bench completely this week. Give Tonyan five or more targets tonight, and he’s got a real chance to hit value for his price.
