But last July, the PGA of America announced its one-year postponement, making the Ryder Cup 2021 the first one to take place in an odd-numbered year since 1999. The event will tee off Friday from Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan, Wis.

Team Europe, led by Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy, is the holder of the Ryder Cup, having won the last edition in 2018.
