Kentucky Wesleyan College and Brescia University have again each earned accolades for their academic quality based on rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
KWC among ‘Best Regional Colleges in South’ and ‘Top Performers on Social Mobility’ for 2022
Kentucky Wesleyan College has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Best Regional Colleges in the South” and “
Top Performers on Social Mobility” for 2022.KWC was the highest ranking among regional colleges in Kentucky in both categories, ranked No. 21 for Best Regional Colleges and No. 30 for Social Mobility in the South.
The Top Performers in Social Mobility indicator measures how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants. Students who receive these grants typically come from households whose family incomes are less than $50,000 a year.
“We are honored to be so highly regarded by the prestigious U.S. News & World Report,” said President Dr. Thomas Mitzel. “These superior rankings are a testament to the commitment of our faculty and staff, who provide a high quality education with personal attention to each student.”
Kentucky Wesleyan was also recently recognized by Princeton Reviews as a “Best in the Southeast” college for the 18th consecutive year.
Brescia ranked on ‘Best Value Schools’ and ‘Best Regional Colleges in South’ lists

Best Value School – Regional Colleges South” and “Best Regional Colleges in the South” for 2022.Brescia University ranked No. 15 on the Best Value Schools for Regional Colleges in the South, and No. 31 for
Best Regional Colleges in the South.The Best Value Schools list measures the average discount price paid by full-time undergraduates, the percentage of all full-time undergraduates receiving need-based scholarships or grants, average discount from the total cost for full-time undergraduates, and the aid that students don’t have to pay back.
The Best Regional Colleges South ranking highlights schools who focus on undergraduate education with fewer than half of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines.

About the rankings
The U.S. News Report is in their 37th year of ranking colleges and universities, assessing 1,466 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions. From there they use 17 indicators of academic quality to determine each school’s overall score, then overall ranking. Academic data from surveys and reliable third-party sources are vetted before being used to calculate rankings.
