Pets of the week: Swiss and Bean are the missing ingredients in your life - Bucks County Courier Times

Swiss the cat hails from the streets of Philadelphia, but his personality is more befitting his mountainous namesake. Switzerland is well-known for its peacefulness and neutrality, traits which Swiss the cat also embodies. He just loves everyone he meets! Then again, he also might really love cheese. So how did Swiss really earn his name? He’ll be happy to share the story with his new forever family.

Before he became the cat known as Swiss, this handsome fellow was known for seeking attention on the city street where he was living as a stray. One day he rubbed against the right person’s legs, and was whisked away to a foster home by Northeast Animal Rescue.

Five-year-old Swiss is very affectionate and adores people. He likes to be by your side all the time, whether you’re working at your desk or on the couch watching television. As Swiss would rather not have to share his lap time he would prefer to be an only pet. But the more people the better for Swiss — even those little humans, aka kids, are fine by him.

Swiss is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and tested negative for the feline leukemia and immunodeficiency viruses. For more information about Swiss, or to complete an adoption application, visit nar.rescuegroups.org.

For our second course, meet the delectable pup called Bean! He must be named after jelly beans, because he’s just so sweet.

Two-year-old Bean has had a tough time recently, but who hasn’t by this point? Gentle Bean was left at a boarding kennel when his owner became ill and couldn’t reclaim Bean and his siblings. Family members took the other dogs, but Bean was left behind. Luckily, Sarama Animal Rescue stepped up for Bean, and is looking to place him in either a foster or forever home.

Bean is a playful boy who is a pro at fetch and loves to carry his toys around with him, which is, of course, incredibly cute. Bean also loves belly rubs, treats and naps. And really, isn’t that what we all want out of life?

Bean is looking for stability after the stresses of this past year, and will need time to decompress in his new home. He will need to be the only pet in the home for now, as he becomes stressed by other dogs. That may change once he is feeling more comfortable and secure, as he has lived with other dogs in the past.

Bean will need a patient owner who can help him to feel more like his old self. If you’d like to inquire about fostering Bean, send an email to saramarescue@gmail.com or visit www.sarama.org for more information.
