MANHEIM, Penn. -- After a terrific 2020-21 campaign, the Augustana wrestling team is being recognized for its efforts in the classroom, earning the fourth-best team GPA in the country at 3.355 and NWCA Division II Scholar All-America honors the NWCA announced Monday afternoon.
In addition to team honors, the Vikings also had eight wrestlers earn individual Scholar All-America honors.

Derek Werner
In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II Scholar All-American Team, he must have a minimum 3.4 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.25 for those who qualified for the 2020 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. Due to the impact of COVID-19 on the season, the dates of competition stipulation was removed from this year's qualifications.
In total, 345 student-athletes representing 46 institutions were honored individually. Super Region 5 had 83 total student-athletes honored to top all regions. In addition, the NSIC paced all conferences with 83 honorees. The Vikings also achieved the highest team GPA out of all NSIC institutions.
