Lavascia Williams was sick of damaging her hair. She was also disappointed that the ha

ir products she used and trusted, which were marketed towards her hair type, caused this damage. This experience encouraged her to transition away from store-bought brands to develop her own trustworthy products, ultimately creating Earthly Essentials.

Simple and to the point, the purpose of Earthly Essentials is to deliver holistic hair and skin care products made up of ingredients derived from the Earth. Goat’s milk, avocado, aloe, shea butter, honey and other elements help to nourish the body head to toe, chemical- and cruelty-free.

“Earthly Essentials emphasizes that honoring nature is important and that it gives us a lot of the healing remedies to certain things or to just take care of ourselves,” says Lavascia Williams, founder and CEO of Earthly Essentials, whose mission is to provide clean, natural products while promoting health through a holistic lens.

Due to her distrust in the store-bought products that broke her hair, Williams became super ingredient-conscious and began conducting her own research, figuring out what works with her hair and what doesn’t. Soon, she wasn’t the only one benefitting from her moisturizing products.

“I wanted to share it with other people who have the same wants and needs to boost their natural hair and take care of it in the best way possible,” says Williams. “People want growth and health, and all these natural things can help with that.”

Each element used in the brand’s products have their own strengths: goat’s milk is excellent for both skin and hair for hydration, avocado has restorative properties, and aloe moisturizes the hair while assisting with growth.

Some popular products and sellers amongst her customers are the restorative butter, the new honey soaps and the famed shampoo bar containing a natural cleanser, which can be used on beards as well.

“The shampoo bar massages the scalp while sudsing up and cleansing it at the same time,” she says. “There’s a little bit of shea butter in there so when someone uses the shampoo bar, it’s cleansing their hair from product build-up but also remoisturizing it and not stripping your hair of its natural oils.”

Another great inspiration for the brand she continues to grow every day is her late four-year-old sister, Maya, who is a driving force in her life and pushes her to do a lot of the things she’s pursuing right now.

Since birth, Maya had a lot of medical conditions that led her to receive different types of necessary medications. Williams would bear witness to her little sister taking these medications, propelling her to view life in an alternative way.

“I look at things through a very holistic lens, and I feel a lot of things can be eased or healed with natural ingredients and products, so although growing up I watched her receive medication that she needed, it still played a part in my stance today,” says Williams. “The honey milk bars were created in commemoration of her because this year was the ten-year anniversary of her passing in April, and we used to call her “Maya the Bee,” so that’s where the honey-based soaps come from, she had sensitive skin as well.”

July 31 marked the two-year anniversary for Earthly Essentials, and through her passion for hair care, Williams continues to emphasize the message “health is wealth” through the act of self-care with 100 percent natural, chemical-free products to nourish all hair types and patterns. She also hop

es to educate communities on the importance of what customers should use on their bodies for optimal health, starting from the outside within.

“Earthly Essentials, combined into three parts, is my love for the earth and nature, how it makes me feel included with my caretaker energy and wanting to help people in a way I know how, and my passion of hair since the brand did start as strictly haircare,” she says, “I love natural hair, it does amazing things and it’s so versatile.
