CUIJK, THE NETHERLANDS — For the third year in a row, Duynie Ingredients has been recognized as a top performing accredited sustainable company by the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC). PSC highlighted the top environmental performers in the pet industry at Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Fla., March 24.
Duynie Ingredients was evaluated by a third-party company that quantified the impact of Duynie Ingredients’ business and products for pets, people and planet. PSC rated Duynie Ingredients as one of the top 20 most sustainable companies of the pet industry in 2020 and 2021. And now, in 2022, the company has been awarded as the top accredited company to reduce its environmental impact for the pet industry. Duynie Ingredients has been a PSC member since 2018 and a PSC Accredited Company since 2019.
Duynie Ingredients is one of Europe’s leading producers of sustainable plant-based ingredients for the pet food industry. All its ingredients are derived from plant-based co-products, locally sourced from the food industry. The Duynie Ingredient processing facility in the Netherlands uses residual heat from a nearby bio-energy plant, which allows the company to produce sustainable pet food ingredients such as potatoes, carrots and other vegetables with a lower carbon footprint than conventional alternatives.
The PSC’s mission is to advance business through profitable environmental and social practices. PSC accredited companies meet minimum sustainability performance and pass a transparent and third party-verified assessment of their impact and commitment to continuous improvement with their stakeholders. Accredited companies align their sustainability practices with the globally recognized Sustainable Development Goals. Alignment with these goals ensures that companies are working toward outcomes that are universally recognized as optimal and can be tracked and measured for desired impact.
Those companies recognized as top environmental performers by PSC have scored best in their efforts to manage greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and usage of environmentally preferred input materials.
