When visiting Henry’s at the Farm, the fresh food and drinks you’re served are sourced from local farms and artisan food purveyors. The ingredients on your plate and in your cocktails are likely grown on their on-site organic Millstone Farm. Henry’s is a favorite of locals and travelers. And although they are temporarily relocated just a short drive from their home at Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa as the restaurant undergoes a renovation, their farm-to-table dishes and drinks still make a visit worth the trip.
Henry’s is at once rustic and refined, and they are proud to serve fruits, veggies and herbs from their Millstone Farm. The eggs and honey from Millstone’s aviary and apiary are included on the menu in dishes and cocktails.
I recently tried the Millstone Mint Julep. Made with Taconic Distillery bourbon, mint and black cherries, it was a strong and refreshing libation on a hot summer night. My dining companion opted for the Honey Blackberry Smash, a non-alcoholic drink made with blackberries, honey and mint. This mocktail was not only beautiful but also delicious and would be a great option for any guests not wishing to imbibe.
Next up, I sampled the Buttermilk 75. Made with Stoutridge Gin, lemon and prosecco it was a fizzy and flavorsome drink. Other appealing options on the menu included a Bee’s Knees, a Blackberry Margarita and a Smoked Manhattan, which is also made with Taconic Distillery bourbon. On the mocktail side, the Seasonal Spritz would be a festive and fun choice and is made with blood orange, citrus and agave for a sweet celebration of summer.
I didn’t have room to try any beer this time around, but the Mill House Kold One, a Kolsch, would have been a stellar choice. It’s made by Mill House Brewing Company in nearby Poughkeepsie, which I’ve been lucky to also visit. Their creative, drinkable and award-winning beers and friendly atmosphere never disappoint.
Henry’s is known for hosting wine pairing events throughout the year. Local distilleries, wineries and breweries are all well represented here, and the beauty of the Hudson River Valley comes across in all of the food and drink.
Henry’s is temporarily located at 30 Main St. in Milton, NY and they are currently serving dinner seven days and brunch on the weekends. Book a table online or call 845-795-1500 for more information.
