STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Memorial Day marks one of the best times of year for sales, as retailers share exciting deals on anything from mattresses, appliances, outdoor gear and more.
Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 25, this year, and while stores won’t be operating as normal due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, many retailers are still offering deals online, according to DealNews.com.
The website said that while some stores are dropping deals early, the best Memorial Day sales will still arrive closer to the holiday.

You can still shop for home and garden items online even if you’re staying home.
Julie Ramhold, senior staff writer at DealNews.com, reports that stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s will likely take up to 40% off items like furniture and grills, while Big Lots may bring back its Memorial Day sale with up to 25% select patio sets.
Walmart, Target, Amazon, and Macy’s will also have their own sales during the three-day holiday weekend on a variety of items to transform your outdoor space.
According to Offers.com, many retailers will be offering deals on sectionals, rugs, and other home decor. Local furniture stores and big online retailers will likely throw home “blowout” sales during the holiday weekend. Shoppers should keep an eye on retailers like Overstock, Wayfair and Kohl’s, according to Offers.com.
Wayfair is offering deals on select furniture items through Memorial Day weekend. This Waltonville five-piece sectional with cushions is on sale for $829.99, down from $1,400.

Forever 21 and Gap Factory will likely had sales up to 50% to 75% on a large selection of items.

Mattresses are usually a popular item during Memorial Day sales, and buying one online has become more popular in recent years. So even if you can’t shop in stores, Ramhold said you can still get a great deal on a new mattress. Amazon will likely discount Leesa and Casper mattresses by up to 25% off. Department stores like JCPenney can knock up to 60% select mattresses, according to shopping experts.
